Shinobu's catchphrase
Shinobu Sarutobi (猿飛 忍, Sarutobi Shinobu) is a journalist and a member of the Seven Prodigies.
Appearance[]
Shinobu is a small girl with rounded facial features, violet eyes, short pink hair and a catlike mouth.
Her outfit consists of a Japanese high school uniform, a purple hair ribbon tied in a bow and a purple scarf around her neck. She wears spats underneath her skirt.
When captured, she is stripped to her underwear. Hers are a matching white set with pink ribbins and frills on the edges, exposing her belly button.
Personality[]
Known for a manipulative side, Shinobu tends to flatter and charm in order to get the best of her opponents. She is also voraciously curious, driving her career as an investigative journalist, and has a mildly maternal relationship with Winona's son Elk.
Specialization[]
Shinobu specializes in journalism who also has some martial skill as she is descended from ninjas which makes her a master of stealth, espionage and gathering information and she has proven her skill to infiltrate an enemy territory without getting caught by using disguise or changing her whole personality to avoid suspicions.
Etymology[]
- The name Shinobu is derived from 'ninja" (忍), and can also mean "endurance" (忍耐).
- Shinobu's surname Sarutobi means "monkey, ape" (猿) (saru) and "fly, skip (pages), scatter" (飛) (tori/tobi).
Trivia[]
- Shinobu tends to replace herself with a dummy during meetings with the rest of the Prodigies.
- Shinobu's surname was also derived from Sarutobi Sasuke, a legendary ninja from Japanese fiction.
